Palermo, Italy -- (Sports Network) - Fifth-seeded Italian Sara Errani routed Mariya Koryttseva of the Ukraine in straight sets to win the Palermo International tennis tournament.Errani, who bested top-seeded countrywoman Flavia Pennetta in the semifinals, topped the seventh-seeded Koryttseva, 6-2, 6-3, to win her first WTA Tour title. "I think the difference between us was I was stronger in the long points," Errani said. "It was difficult to stay physically strong the whole week because it's very hot here, but I think I did better in the end." Koryttseva, who had upended four-time champion Anabel Medina Garrigues of Spain in the semis, is now 0-2 in Tour singles finals, having previously lost in the final at Kolkata in 2007. "I was trying my best but it just wasn't my day," Koryttseva said. "She was using smart tactics and I just wasn't able to play my game. It's especially disappointing because I played so well yesterday. I could have won my first title today but I can't think about that. Tomorrow is another day and another tournament. I just try to improve my game, day by day." Errani, who lost in the first round at Wimbledon, is now 2-1 in head-to-head meetings against Koryttseva and earned $22,750 for her efforts.
