Murders and crimes have gone unsolved in northeast Ohio over the years.

According to the Ohio attorney general, there are about 1,000 unsolved deaths in Cuyahoga County alone.

Some of the most notorious include the slaying of 10-year-old Amy Mihalovic in 1989 and even Sam Sheppard always said he didn’t kill his wife in their Bay Village home in the 1950s.

Detectives also looked into unrelated strangulations between 1988 and 1994 in the Cleveland area.

The Cuyahoga County prosecutor has a Cold Case Squad that investigates unsolved cases believed to be murders. The unit uses DNA evidence to try and solve the crimes.

People can contact the Cold Case Squad at prosecutor.cuyahogacounty.us.
