NORWALK, Ohio - This weekend, the drag racing world turns its attention to Norwalk, Ohio, for the annual Summit Racing Equipment NHRA nationals held at Summit motorsports park.
"It's huge," said New Jersey native and former college track star, Antron Brown. "You want to do well, because it is like it's a spectacle. Our kind of all-star weekend is starting right now."
Brown, who races for MATCO Tools that has its headquarters in Stow, was last year's runner up. This year, he hopes to avenge last year's loss.
"Last year, that was a hard pill to swallow with racing against Larry Dixon and losing by a couple thousandths of a second." said Brown. "This year, we're definitely going in with a little bit remorse and we're amped up, pumped up and we just want tot ake it one round at a time."
The races will take place from June 23 until June 26 at Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk. For more information, go to the park's website at summitmotorsportspark.com
For those who have never experienced drag racing, Antron suggested to go out and see it for yourself.
"When you sit in the stands you feel the boom of the 8,000 horsepower 14,000 pounds of torque in the butt of your seat." said Brown "There is nothing like it, TV does it a little jusitce, but the real justice is when you man-up and come see it in person."
