Tony Russ will step down as Athletic Director at Benedictine High School, his career spanned 44 years.
Russ will step down at the end of this current academic year, but will remain to help out the new Athletic Director Chris Lorber in the transition.
"I want to thank the Benedictine monks, administration, faculty and staff, students, alumni, families and the entire Benedictine community for their support over all these years," said Russ.
"It's been a good ride," added Russ. "I humbly use that same phrase to close out my career at Benedictine, as a tribute to Coach Augie Bossu, one of the most-revered coaches and a man I admired, when he announced his retirement as varsity football and baseball coach from Benedictine in 1993," said Russ.
"I am definitely looking forward to spending more time with my wife, Ginny when she's not selling tickets to Bengal events or working at our fund raisers. She is a continuing blessing in my life," he said.
After an outstanding high school football career as a two-way lineman at Benedictine where he earned All-Ohio honors as a senior in 1965, Russ earned a scholarship to the University of Cincinnati, where a knee injury, requiring several surgeries, ended his playing career.
