SAN ANTONIO, Tex. - The Ashland Lady Eagles basketball team has advance to the national championship for the second straight year.
They defeated Western Washington 66-54 at the Bill Greehey Arena, in San Antonio, Texas.
Last year Ashland was defeated by Shaw in the national title game.
In the semifinal victory over Western Washington the national player of the year Kari Daughtery threw in 24 points and had three blocked shots in the win. The Eagles also garnered 19 points from Daiva Gerbec in the victory.
They will try to finish of this season when the play Dowling College from Long Island, New York on Friday night at 8 p.m. at the Greehley Center.
Ashland is 31-1.
