Saturday, July 2, 2 to 3 p.m., Brandywine Falls Trailhead.

Ohio State Parks

Bug Fest: Findley
Saturday, July 2, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Findley State Park
Campers are invited to join the naturalist for a day filled with bug activities. Registered campers only.

Independence Day Celebration: East Harbor
July 1 to the 4th East Harbor State Park
Time to hit the beach! Enjoy a band Friday night and watch local fireworks from the shores of Lake Erie on July 4th.

Cleveland Metroparks

12,000 Step Program: Hike for Health
Saturday, July 2,  9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Ohio & Erie Canal Reservation, CanalWay Center, 4524 East 49th St, Cuyahoga Hts, OH 44125
Health professionals now recommend taking at least 12,000 steps a day to improve or maintain your health. Historical Interpreter Doug Kusak will show you how far that gets you in the Ohio & Erie Canal Reservation, and will probably talk about something the entire way. Terrain Difficulty: paved, two hills, 6 miles. Free.

Looking Under Logs
Saturday, July 2, 1 to 2 p.m., South Chagrin Reservation, Look About Lodge , 37374 Miles Rd, Bentleyville, OH 44022
Even though it can’t always be seen, lots of natural activity takes place underneath a rotting log. Many of nature’s most important processes occur underground. Join Naturalist Andrew Mularo to learn about tiny creatures that live beneath a log. Ages: 4 to 7 years with adult

Ashland County Parks

The Ashland County Park District (ACPD) is currently composed of 16 parks. Each offers a unique experience and support a variety of recreational activities including hiking, bird-watching, canoeing, dog-walking and hunting.

Crawford County Parks

Lowe-Volk Nature Center
The Lowe-Volk Nature Center opened in Dec. 2002. The building has an eco-friendly design, and contains a passive solar heat and light system, an above ground leach bed and parallam beams. It currently features 25 exhibits on various topics, including live wildlife.
As the "hub" of Park District activities, many school groups utilize the Nature Center and surrounding Lowe-Volk Park for field trips.  There are also public environmental education programs and large events hosted here.

Erie County Parks

Stars & Stripes Celebration
Monday, July 4th, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Washington Row & Columbus Ave., Sandusky, OH
Join Erie MetroParks and many others downtown Sandusky to celebrate July 4th. Stroll downtown Sandusky's scenic streets where you'll enjoy games, food vendors and family friendly activities. This is a Sandusky tradition that gets better every year.

Butterfly Survey

Hiking for the Health of It - Cuyahoga Valley National Park’s Blue Hen Falls
Saturday, July 2, 9 to 11 a.m., Cuyahoga Valley National Park’s Blue Hen Falls Trailhead.
This is a hiking club for those adults who can hike four to five miles at a brisk pace. Walking trails can be mildly strenuous with a limited amount being off trail. Please dress for the weather, and be sure to have appropriate footwear. Ages 10 to adult. No registration required. Free.
