SMITHVILLE, Ohio - Senior Danielle Besancon is a pole vaulter and basketball player for Smithville High School.
In basketball, she helped her team go to the state tournament her junior season, and she helped the team win the district her senior year. She also won the county and district in pole vaulting her junior season.
"Danielle has been a very dedicated athlete from her freshman year on the pole vault. She been a whole lot of fun to work with and watch her excel in something she really enjoys," said pole vault coach Don Dravenstott.
Danielle is also a member of 4H, French and yearbook club. With her busy schedule, she still has time to take college courses in education.
"I've taking these courses, like next generation teaching classes, that will help me in college because Wooster is a pretty tough school. I want to take as many hard classes now so I can get prepared for the College of Wooster," said Danielle.
Danielle future is bright because she will be pole vaulting and playing basketball for the College of Wooster.Besancon of Smithville High is the McDonald's student athlete of the week.
