PERRY, Ohio - Mark Hocevar is only a sophomore and he is already leaving his mark at Perry High School as a student and a baseball player.
"Mark first and foremost is what every coach wants as a player: great in the classroom, great out of the classroom. He's always willing to help out in any form or fashion that he can and is a solid baseball player," said head coach John Grdina.
Mark is also sophomore class president, a member of student council and he is involved in academic decathlon. Mark is doing all of this while taking AP classes and holding over a 4.0 grade point average.
"I believe that good grades sets a pathway for the rest of your life. Sports can also help build up the resume. But good grades is number one importance to me," said Mark Hocevar.
A student and baseball player, Mark Hocevar of Perry High School is the McDonald's student athlete of the week.
