MENTOR, Ohio - Senior Kate Gorjup is the number one diver of the century for Mentor High School. As the captain of the diving team and a two year district qualifier Kate has shown desire determination and confidence to be a successful diver for the Cardinals.
"Kate came to the diving program as a sophomore with great gymnast ability her coach ability, desire to succeed and dedication has gotten her to the level that she has today," said Mentor High head diving coach Lauren Caimi.
Kate is also on the tennis and track team. But as a member of National Honor Society and holding a four point one five grade point average she knows her education is more important then her three sports.
"Grades are really important and it teaches you a lot about hard work. And in the future you can use that in the work force and that's what keeps me motivated to keep doing my best and working hard and push myself to be the best that I can be," said Gorjup.
Kate's hard work will help her reach her goal to become a doctor. Kate Gorjup of Mentor High is the McDonald's student athlete of the week.
