CLEVELAND - It started three weeks ago with a story on NewsChannel5. Now John Hay High School's Maurice O'Field is close to making his dream come true, competing on the national stage in Atlanta.
O'Field was one of 16 high school basketball players across the country to be chosen to compete in the American Family Insurance National Slam Dunk & Three-Point Championships.
The competition is conducted online on Facebook in a bracket challenge. You can help Maurice reach his goal by going to Facebook.com/HighSchoolSlam You are allowed to vote just once a day for the player of your choice.
Winners of the Facebook competition will be announced Wednesday, March 20 and will travel to Atlanta April 4 to 5 to compete in the championship airing April 6 at 2 p.m. ET on CBS.
O'Field will attend Middle Tennessee State to play basketball next fall.
