Kentucky Oaks 139: Dreaming of Julia is the favorite

Todd Pletcher has four entries in Oaks

Louisville, KY - Today is ladies day at Churchill Downs.

Dreaming of Julia drew post No. 8 in the 11 horse field and will go off as the favorite at 3-1 in the $1 million Kentucky Oaks.

Trainer Todd Pletcher has once again aligned himself with a number of fillies entered in this race and is dominating the field with his entry Dreaming of Julia.  The filly won the Gulfstream Park Oaks by a huge margin, and I think we can expect more of the same from her Friday.

Unlimited Budget, Silsita and Princess of Sylmar are also being saddled by Pletcher.  Pletcher is no stranger to the Oaks trophy after having won it in 2004 and 2007.

Pletcher will also saddle five horses in tomorrow's Kentucky Derby.  Jockey John Velazquez who has been on the injury list is now at the track and looking forward to getting back to work.  He will ride the undefeated Verrazano on Saturday.  Pletcher has some of the tightest security at the track but I was able to get a look at Verrazano who was resting well after his workout on Wednesday.

Post time for the Kentucky Oaks today is at 5:45 p.m.  The field is as follows:

1PP  Silsita  20/1  Pletcher,

2PP Midnight Lucky 9/2 Pletcher,

3PP Beholder 7/2 Mandella,

4PP Unlimted Budget 7/2 Pletcher,
