It's Race Week!  Finally!

This year Churchill Downs implemented a qualifying point system which was put in place to determine who would get an entry in the Kentucky Derby.  Points have been assigned to those finishing in the top four spots in the Kentucky Derby Prep races which began in September of last year.

Here's how the field is shaping up for this Saturday.

Orb & Verrazano 150 points, Goldencents 129 points, Java's War 122 points, Overanalyze, Revolutionary and Lines of Battle 110 points, Vyjack 70 points, Will Take Charge 60 points, Itsmyluckyday, Black Onyx and Palace Malice 50 points, Normandy Invasion and Frac Daddy  44 points, Mylute 42 points, Oxbow 36 points, Falling Sky 30 points, Charming Kitten 20 points, Golden Soul 14 points.

Falling Sky may be the Derby pace setter, had a speedy workout.

Oxbow has had strong workouts and keeps his head down while running out.   This horse is bred for distance.

Keep your eyes on Todd Pletcher's entries as he has five runners going into Saturday's starting gates.

As of right now cool temperatures and a chance of rain is expected in Louisville on Saturday.   The Post-Position draw is scheduled for this Wednesday.
