New York - They're all in! The post-position draw for this year's Belmont Stakes has concluded but the simulation of predictions regarding who will conquer the massive oval track is just beginning.
Unfortunately, for the last three years there has not been a Triple Crown contender in our midst, but this will be a very exciting race with the Kentucky Derby winner and Preakness winner facing off against a competitive field.
Kentucky Derby winner Orb has an under-whelming performance in the Preakness and was unable to keep up with Oxbow's blistering pace. Orb has trained well this week and had a good gallop out of five furlongs in 1:00:48 at Belmont Park on Tuesday.
Despite Orb's downfall in the Preakness he is currently listed as the betting favorite in the field. Some of the horses entered won't provide too much competition such as Giant Finish and Midnight Taboo. Oxbow will face new challenges with this field being larger, stronger and at a greater distance. Orb is still standing out as the favorite and he should benefit from his pedigree and this being his home track.
