Cavs fans turn to CSU basketball

Team undefeated after 12 games

CLEVELAND - The Cleveland State Vikings mens basketball team is off to a 12-0 start to the season.

A huge threat to their winning ways comes this Saturday when the team travels to Morgantown, West Virginia to face the Mountaineers and legendary coach Bob Huggins.

The game will be a rematch of last year's contest that CSU lost at the buzzer 80-78.

West Virginia, which went to the NCAA Final Four last year with a 31-7 record, is off to a 8-2 start.

Basketball fans in greater Cleveland are taking notice of the Vikings early success. Some are choosing to attend CSU games instead of the Cleveland Cavaliers of the NBA.

Jerry Bohinc, of Gates Mills, was buying multiple tickets for the upcoming game against Loyola on Dec. 30.

"Traditionally, at Christmas time, the guys... and the extended family, all go to a basketball game together - so this year it's not the Cavs, it's Cleveland State," said Bohinc.

The Cavaliers are currently 7-17 and have lost 8 in a row.

Cleveland State student and basketball fan Jessica Longstreet told NewsChannel5, "We have an undefeated team here, so people should definitely come out and support us and forget about LeBron and get over him."
