The Cleveland Cavaliers have made their long-awaited signing of shooting guard J.R. Smith official with a statement today.

"Bringing J.R. back as part of our core group was a priority for us," said Griffin. "He's a special part of this family and we are very pleased to have reached an agreement that we can all feel good about."

Smith was an integral part of the Cavs playoff team, starting all 77 games during the regular season and averaging 12 points in about 30 minutes a game.

He set a franchise record with 204 3-pointers made last season and ranked seventh in made threes across the NBA. He shot over 40 percent from beyond the arc and led the Cavs in steal-to-turnover ratio.
