Report: Former Browns running back Jerome Harrison discovered to have brain tumor

PHILADELPHIA - Former Cleveland Browns running back Jerome Harrison was discovered to have a brain tumor during a recent physical exam as part of a trade process, according to a report from ESPN.

Harrison was traded to the Philadelphia Eagles from the Detroit Lions, but that trade was nullified after doctors discovered during Harrison's physical exam that he has a brain tumor.

The trade might have saved Harrison's life because doctors were able to detect the tumor, the report said.

Harrison will likely not play again this season, but "his long-term prognosis both for life and his football career appear to be good," the report said.

The trade was sending Harrison to the Eagles in exchange for running back Ronnie Brown and an additional draft pick.

Harrison played for the Browns from 2006 until last season, when he was traded to the Eagles after the first four games of the season.
