The Cleveland Browns are mired in a winless season, suffering tough losses in each of the first four games of the season, and many Ohioans think they'd be bested by the Ohio State Buckeyes in a head to head matchup.
Circumstance and the winless results haven't given the fans much hope for this season, and that's reflected in a recent poll where 62 percent of people think the Buckeyes would beat the Browns if the teams were to play.
Public Policy Polling conducted the survey, which focused on the popularity of presidential candidates and public figures in the state among other things. In a quirky addition, the poll asked who would win on the gridiron between the Browns and the Buckeyes. Only 23 percent of those polled think the Browns would take the victory.
Cleveland has been hit by the injury bug early and often, losing starting quarterbacks Robert Griffin III and Josh McCown to shoulder injuries. Bright spots like rookie defensive end Carl Nassib and wide receiver Cory Coleman have been snuffed out by hand injuries.
There have been positives, rookie quarterback Cody Kessler has managed a respectable completion rate of 67 percent, and running back Isaiah Crowell is enjoying a breakout year, already having amassed nearly 400 yards rushing and three touchdowns.
Meanwhile the Buckeyes have rushed out to a 4-0 start, having never scored less than 45 points in a game and never allowing more than 24 so far this season. Quarterback J.T. Barrett has thrown for 14 touchdowns and only two interceptions, already notching 888 yards on the season. The team has rushed for over 1,300 yards and 12 touchdowns in only four games. They're ranked second in the nation behind only the Alabama Crimson Tide.
The poll also found Buckeye's head coach Urban Meyer to be incredibly popular, with only 7 percent of people having a negative opinion of him. Although the fans didn't show much faith in the Browns' ability to win a game against the Buckeyes, the majority of Ohioans still preferred the Cleveland team to its Cincinnati counterpart. The poll shows 43 percent of people prefer the Browns, compared to 29 percent for the Bengals.
