The Trent Richardson trade is only looking better and better for the Cleveland Browns.
BEREA, OHIO - The Browns top two picks in the 2012 NFL Draft won't be alone in Cleveland. They are both bringing their families to northeast Ohio.
Top pick Trent Richardson has two daughters who accompanied him to New York City for their dad's big night. Richardson's mother was there, too. The 21-year-old is also very close with her.
"My mom is a cancer patient and she fights it every day and she's a strong woman. My mom had done that -- taking in kids and taking my cousins in and she kept us all together. Kept our family strong. That's the real mom for you. She was mom and dad to us," Richardson said.
The No. 3 overall pick said his mother always worked two to three jobs while he was growing up. He said now his mother won't have to work another day in her life. Richardson described himself as "old school." He's not on Facebook or Twitter.
His new teammate, Brandon Weeden, has more than 34,000 followers on Twitter. Just by being drafted, Weeden broke records. The former Oklahoma State University quarterback, at 28 years old, is the oldest player selected in the common draft era. But this was not his first draft. Weeden was drafted in the Major League Baseball Draft out of high school by the New York Yankees, although he never made it past the minor leagues.
Weeden is married. His wife, Melanie, has been posting about their big move to Cleveland. Late Thursday night, she tweeted: "what an exciting special evening. Can't wait to catch our breath and do a little laundry."
It's certainly an exciting time for the newest Browns and their families. Welcome to Cleveland!
