BEREA - Browns running back Montario Hardesty suffered an injury to his right thumb during a drill today at Browns training camp.
The Injury was the big story on the 15th day of camp. Head coach Rob Chudzinski said the 4th year running back will be further evaluated tonight and he will have an update after practice tomorrow. This has been a tough luck camp for Hardesty who has had a problem staying on the field for any length of time, battling thru a hamstring injury that has kept him off the field for 9 of the teams 15 practices at camp and including the first preseason game.
Hardesty had just returned to practice the past two days before the injury to his thumb today, his teammate and fellow running back Chris Obgonnaya is hoping Hardesty's injury is nothing serious.
"He is one of our teammates and its a very tough situation for him and I just hope he can comeback as soon as possible".
The Browns practice outside of the injury to Hardesty went smoothly according to Rob Chudzinski. "It was nice to get back to basis the past three days, we got alot of work done focusing on the fundamentals which has been good for us"
The coach has not made any decision on if Trent Richardson will play Thursday against the Lions but the second year back said he is ready to do whatever the team has in store for him going forward.
"It's up to him, I won't fight anything that he says, I am behind him one hundred percent, I know when it comes to September I know I will be ready. I Feel ready, when coach gives me the green light, I will be ready".
Guest in Camp: Cavaliers General Manager Chris Grant was at Browns practice today as a guest of the team. Says he likes to make it out once during camp if he can.
Browns final practice open to the public is tomorrow. Gates open at three. Practice is from 4-6:30.
