Browns rookie quarterback Cody Kessler has recovered enough from a rib and chest injury to start Sunday at Tennessee.

Kessler got hurt in the first quarter of last week's loss to New England and did not return.

Kessler practiced again on Thursday and following the workout Browns coach Hue Jackson said the third-round draft pick will make his fourth start and face the Titans.

Kessler said he still has some discomfort when he throws, but he's feeling much better after absorbing a hard hit from Patriots linebacker Dont'a Hightower. Kessler said he heard a crunching sound when he got hit and feared his injury was much worse.

Quarterback Josh McCown, who broke his left collarbone in Week 2, returned to practice this week but Jackson does not yet know if the 37-year-old will back up Kessler.

If McCown can't play, rookie Kevin Hogan will be second on the depth chart.
