CLEVELAND - The Cleveland Browns on Monday placed LB Quentin Groves (ankle) on injured reserve and promoted LB Brandon Magee to the active roster from the practice squad.
Magee, a 5-11, 225-pound rookie from Arizona State, appeared in the Browns' first six games and recorded three special-teams tackles. He was inactive Week 7 and spent the past two weeks on the practice squad. Magee, who spent training camp with Dallas, appeared in 44 games with the Sun Devils and recorded 231 tackles. He was also an outfielder on the Arizona State baseball team who helped the squad advance to the College World Series twice and was selected in the MLB draft three times. A native of Corona, Calif., he graduated from Centennial High School.
Voted the 2013 special-teams captain by his teammates, Groves appeared in five games and registered five tackles and two sacks on defense. He also had one coverage tackle and a forced fumble during a punt.
