Cleveland Browns player Isaiah Crowell announced Wednesday that he will donate to a fund that assists the families of officers critically injured or killed in the line of duty after he posted on Instagram, and then removed, an image of a police officer getting his throat slit.

Crowell received significant backlash after a screenshot of the photo went viral.

Chief Calvin Williams said Tuesday that Crowell had personally apologized to Cleveland police. Crowell also posted an apologetic statement on his Instagram page.

The running back posted a video on Facebook Wednesday, revealing that he would donate his first game paycheck to the Dallas Fallen Officer Foundation.

"Last week, like so many others, I was frustrated and upset about what's going on in our country," he said in the video. "During that emotion I did something that I wish I could take back. I posted a really disgusting, bad picture and I took it down immediately because I knew I was wrong."

"By posting the picture I became part of the problem," Crowell said. "I don't want to be part of the problem. I want to be part of the solution."

In addition to donating his first check, Crowell said he is also committed to "doing whatever [he] can to create open dialogue between [his] communities and the police who serve [them]."
