GameDay: Redskins big second half beats the Browns 38-21

CLEVELAND,OH - The Browns found out late Saturday night that Robert Griffin III would not play today and instead readied themselves for another rookie quarterback, Kirk Cousins.

Rex Grossman will serve as the backup to Cousins as RG3 will be inactive for this game. Browns looking to keep their slim playoff hopes alive along with a current winning streak which now stands at three games.


Good start fort the Browns defense, a three and out on the opening series. Browns with alot of pressure on Kirk Cousins.

Browns pressure causes first turnover. T.J Ward intercepts Kirk Cousins and returns 36 yards to the Redskins six yard line. One play later Trent Richardson bulls his way in from six yards out breaking Jim Browns rookie rushing touchdown record with ten.

Redskins would tie the score after a bad punt by Reggie Hodges. Kirk Cousins hits Leonard Hankerson on a 54 yard touchdown pass.

Redskins tipped the field position in the second quarter after crossing midfield on a Cousins to Garcon completion. Browns would hold the Redskins and force a punt but unable to get any momentum.

Skins would take the lead with 5:46 to go in the second quarter on a 44 yard field goal by Kai Forbath after a nine play 51 yard drive.

Browns would get the ball at the 26 yard line and drive down to the Redskins seven yard line after a 16 yard run by Josh Cribbs out of the wildcat. Browns with a first and goal and a chance to take the lead.

Browns would finish off the drive when Trent Richardson gets in from three yards out to give the Browns the lead with 1:15 to go in the first half. The play would be reversed when a replay shows Richardsons knee was down. Browns would score on the next play on a Trent Richardson one yard run. The drive goes nine plays in just over four minutes. Impressive drive right before the half by the Browns.

Browns opening posession is stopped short on a Weeden interception that sets up an Alfred Morris touchdown run and the Redskins would retake the lead.

Browns defense has been on the field a long time today, after another poor punt from Reggie Hodges, the Redskins go 60 yards in 7 plays in 3:44. Kirk Cousins and Leonard Hankerson connect for their second score of the day a two yard touchdown as Redskins extend the lead.

The Redskins would extend their lead off a London Fletcher interception. Redskins would go 10 plays and 48 yards and score on Cousins third touchdown pass of the day, two yards to Evan Royster.

Redskins 31 Browns 14

The Browns would finally get on the board in the second half, when Brandon Weeden fires a perfect strike to Travis Benjamin for a 69 yard touchdown.

The Redskins added another touchdown late in the fourth quarter.

Brandon Weeden has struggled with consistency all day today and this was a game the Browns needed him to be at his best. When you play so many young players you will have big swings like this thru out the season.

The Redskins added another touchdown late in the fourth quarter to secure the win. The Redskins dominated the second half. Brandon Weeden has one of his worst games when they needed him most. the loss ends the Browns slim playoff hopes as well as there three game winning streaks.

Browns fall to 5-9. The Redskins improve to 8-6.
