Quarterback Brandon Weeden #3 of the Cleveland Browns throws to a receiver over safety Nate Allen #29 of the Philadelphia Eagles during the season opener at Cleveland Browns Stadium on September 9, 2012 in Cleveland, Ohio.
BEREA, Ohio - Brandon Weeden will be the Browns starting quarterback when the team opens the season on Sept. 9 against the Miami Dolphins
Head coach Rob Chudzinski said he told the second-year quarterback about his decision on Monday.
"Brandon has earned the job. He's gained my complete trust, his teammates complete trust and the organization's complete trust," Chudzinski said.
Chudzinski said Jason Campbell will be the No. 2 quarterback and Brian Hoyer third on the depth chart.
In other news, running back Dion Lewis underwent surgery Tuesday, according to Chudzinski, and could land on the season-ending injured reserve.
