CLEVELAND - It didn't take long for Browns CEO Joe Banner to get moving on his search to get a new head coach. On New Year's Day banner interviewed Cardinals defensive coordinator Ray Horton. On Friday, multiple media outlets are reporting they will interview Oregon head coach Chip Kelly on Friday.
Interviewing Horton would satisfy the league requirement of interviewing a minority candidate under the "Rooney Rule."
The Oregon Ducks and head coach Chip Kelly are in Arizona to face Kansas State in the Fiesta Bowl on Thursday.
Kelly is the key reason Banner arrived in Phoenix on New Years Day. His relationship with Kelly's agent David Dunn could play into getting Kelly. According to NFL.com they have a "strong relationship."
The Browns are also said to be interviewing Syracuse head coach Doug Marrone, according to FOX Sports.
Kelly, could be looking at NCAA sanctions after the season because of recruiting violations. He was also very tempted to leave last year to take the job in Tampa. This might the best shot at getting huge money in the NFL for Kelly, with six other teams looking for a head coach.
Penn State's Bill O'Brien could also find himself back in the NFL. The job at Penn State is going to get tougher with NCAA sanctions hanging over the program. O'Brien's background with the New England Patriots makes him also a hot candidate for any team willing to fork over the 9 million dollars to buy him out of his PSU contract.
Atlanta offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter signed a two year a contract extension that runs through the 2013 season, according to Fox Sports. So he is off the Browns list.
The Browns may be on the verge of inking one of their top free agent targets, according to The Baltimore Sun.

As Joe Flacco hoisted his first Lombardi Trophy and entered 'elite' territory Sunday, the Browns remain without their guy at quarterback, unless you think Brandon Weeden is going to become that.
