BEREA, Ohio - Sarah Thomas is a 41-year-old mother of three with a dream to make NFL history.
She just spent three days with the Cleveland Browns during the team's mandatory mini-camp but she has no delusions of becoming a pro player.
No, Sarah Thomas wants to become the first female official in NFL history.
"I have never thought of myself as a pioneer, but I would embrace that title," she said.
Thomas is part of the NFL's Referee Development Program and is working her way into this male dominated profession.
"I'm just one of the guys, I am doing a job just like everybody else," Thomas added.
So far, at least according to some of the Browns players, like Pro Bowl corner Joe Haden, the reviews are good.
"She was really good, she knows the game," Haden said.
Thomas is a pharmaceutical representative from Brandon, Mississippi. Her work may be done in Berea but her season has just started.
Thomas will work in the Ravens training camp and has already been guaranteed to officiate two pre-season games. She hopes it is just the beginning of a dream come true.
