Browns choose QB Cody Kessler

Despite Hinckley native quarterback Connor Cook on the draft board, the Browns chose quarterback Cody Kessler out of USC in the third round with the 93rd overall pick.

The Browns received the 93rd overall pick after making trade with the Carolina Panthers. The trade sent the Browns 77th overall pick and 141st overall pick to the Carolina Panthers. In return the Browns received the 93rd overall pick, the 129th overall pick and the 168th overall pick.

Kessler was a three-year starter at USC where he threw for 10,339 yards and 88 touchdowns. He also was picked off 19 times.

Kessler is 6-1 and weighed in at 215 lbs.  He holds a USC record for completion percentage at 67.5 percent.

The Browns currently have four signal callers on their roster including Robert Griffin III, Josh McCown, Austin Davis and Connor Shaw.
