There was a special moment at TD Garden Tuesday evening as the Cavaliers took on the Boston Celtics.

A Boston high school student was being recognized at the game for a Special Olympics MVP award.

LeBron James ran over and greeted the teen after seeing the tribute on the Jumbo-tron.

He said he felt a connection to the boy because he was wearing his shoes.

"I designed those shoes for kids with conditions where they’re not able to…tie their own shoe strings and he had a pair on," James said after the game. "Those shoes that he had on are made for kids that can’t tie their own shoes and there’s just one strap and they’re able to get them on with just one hand or whatever the case may be and when I saw that and I saw his story it was just like I felt like I was a part of him so you know just showing my respect and gave him my shoes.”

After the game, James found the teen again, took of his game sneakers, and gave them to the boy.

"It's not for you guys, it's not for the fans," he said, addressing reporters. "It was for him."

James led the Cavs to a 89-77 win over the Celtics.
