'New' Cleveland Cavaliers ready to show talent, release preseason schedule

To play NBA's second game ever in South America

CLEVELAND - From the return of the King LeBron James to trading away their No. 1 overall pick Andrew Wiggins to acquire Minnesota Timberwolves star Kevin Love, the Cleveland Cavaliers have been all the rage in the sporting news world.

In the aftermath of the signings of James, Love, James Jones, Mike Miller and possibly Ray Allen to play alongside All-Star Kyrie Irving with his Cleveland crew, the Cavaliers have jumped to being the favorite to win the Eastern Conference and possibly win the NBA Championship.

'New' Cavaliers release pre-season schedule

The Cavs have proven they are willing to spend the money and talk the talk, but now it's time to see if they will be able to walk the walk. And it starts with the preseason.

The Cavaliers released their seven-game preseason schedule Friday afternoon and it starts with a team new head coach David Blatt is very familiar with. His former European squad Maccabi Tel Aviv will roll into Quickens Loans Arena on Sunday, October 5 at 6 p.m. to give the Cavaliers their first test as a unit.

The highlight of the preseason will be when the Cavs head down to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on October 11 to play LeBron's former suitor Miami Heat in the NBA's second game ever in South America. Cleveland's wildman Anderson Varejao will play an NBA game in front of his countrymen for the first time as part of this year's NBA Global Games.
