Cavs free-agent forward Tristan Thompson did not accept a one-year, $6.8 million contract offer for the 2015-16 season by Thursday's deadline, ESPN reports.

According to ESPN, with the one-year option off the table, Thompson can no longer accept the offer at that rate unless the Cavs make it available again.

ESPN's Chris Broussard reported last week that Thompson would be willing to sign a 3 year, $53 million contract with the team.

But when the season kicked off with Media Day on Monday, Thompson was absent.

Now, negotiations will shift toward both sides agreeing on a multi-year deal.

Thompson played in all 82 games last season, starting in 15 with an average of 8.5 points.

He was an integral part of Cleveland's NBA Finals run after Kevin Love went down with a shoulder injury.

During the postseason, Thompson averaged 9.6 points, 10.8 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game.
