CLEVELAND - Shelley Duncan spent years in the minors but has secured an Opening Day starting spot with the Indians for the first time in his career.
The 32-year-old outfielder has never been a regular starter before but will likely get that chance in left field for the Indians in 2012.
In five seasons as a Yankee and Indian, Duncan has a career .239 average, 30 HR and 107 RBI.
Duncan hit .260 with 11 HR and 47 RBI in 223 at-bats with the Indians in 2011.
He spent much of nine seasons in the Yankees farm system before signing with the Indians in 2010.
Duncan has never played more than 85 games in a season.
The 2012 season could give the 32-year-old his first real shot at a breakout season with regular playing time.
