Leading up to the Cleveland Indians taking on the Chicago Cubs in the World Series, our sports department is covering various aspects of the team. Below are Lauren Brill's takeaways from Sunday's practice:
Despite the fact the Indians now know their opponent, the Chicago Cubs, their attitude has remained the same. The Indians continue to have confidence in themselves and believe in their ability to win with each other.
“We have a group of guys that we have come together as a team. We play as a team. We do everything together. There is not one person trying to do one thing and another person trying to do another,” Mike Napoli explained.
For the team’s manager, Terry Francona, the knowledge of who they are playing allowed him to make decisions for the series, including pitching. Corey Kluber will start game one Trevor Bauer will start game two (if health permits), and Josh Tomlin will start game three.
Francona admitted they are taking on a very strong and well-rounded team with the Chicago Cubs.
“They are going to be a handful,” Francona explained. “Their starting pitching is tremendous. They catch the ball. They are athletic.”
However, their mindset does not revolve around who they are playing but rather it's about staying true to who they are and who they have been all season long.
