CLEVELAND - NewsChannel5 sports director Andy Baskin confirmed the Indians have agreed to terms with Atlanta outfielder Michael Bourn. The story was first reported by Fox Sports Ken Rosenthal.
The deal is a four-year deal worth $48 million. Rosenthal reported the deal contains a fifth-year vesting option for $12 million. The Indians will have to forfeit a draft pick in exchange for Bourn.
Bourn, a 30-year-old outfielder, was an All-Star with the Atlanta Braves last season.
It's interesting that the Indians did the deal with Bourn's agent, Scott Boras. That's the same man who represents former Indians Shin-Soo Choo. Choo was traded to the Diamondbacks in the off season.
It's been reported that the Mets and Cubs also wanted Bourn.
In Atlanta, he hit in leadoff spot hitting .274 with nine homers and 57 RBI.
He is from Houston, Texas.
