CLEVELAND - Indians baseball wouldn't be the same without the sounds of John Adams' drum coming from the bleacher seats. Now, the Tribe's biggest fan has a beer named in his honor.
Great Lakes Brewing Company announced the "rookie debut" of Rally Drum Red Ale on Monday.
Adams and his bass drum have been fixtures in left center field for the past 38 years at Indians home games, from the days at Cleveland Stadium to Progressive Field. The constant drumbeat as a batter walks up to the plate with the crowd clapping along is part of the home team atmosphere.
Great Lakes Brewing Company said the Rally Drum Red Ale is an American red ale. It has characteristics similar to pales ales and bitters.
The new brew will be tapped at the brewpub on Tuesday and will be available as supplies last. The GLBC pub will open at 11 a.m. on Thursday, which is the Tribe's Opening Day.
