CLEVELAND - One young player that Indians fans should have their eyes on is second year player Jason Kipnis. The Tribe second baseman has just 36 career games under his belt but really showed that he has some potential power. Kipnis is expected to hit eighth for the Indians this season.
Jason Kipnis played his college baseball for the Arizona Sun Devils. He is an All-American, and Pacific-10 Conference Player of the Year in 2009. The Indians drafted him in the second round of the 2009 MLB Draft.
In 2010, Kipnis was named Minor League Player of the Year, and a Baseball America Minor League All-Star. He was also regarded as the top Indians prospect, and the 28th-highest prospect in baseball.
Kipnis made his major league debut last season on July 22nd. He finished the season playing 36 games hitting .272 with 7 home runs and 19 RBI.
