AKRON, Ohio - Indians pitcher Chris Perez made a rehab start Tuesday in Akron, but did not fair so well. In his one inning of play he had a few strikeouts, hit a batter with a pitch and allowed three home runs.
"It was pretty bad. I was happy to see him on the mound but he got rocked," said Russ Oyler, a Tribe fan.
This is the first start for Perez since he was arrested for allegedly having marijuana delivered to his house, addressed to his dog's name. Perez and his wife, Melanie, both face charges in the incident.
Some fans said they feel the drug charges may have had an affect on his pitching.
"No matter what he says it has got to be bothering him," said Dale Dengerd, who traveled from Cleveland to see the game. "I would think its in the back of his head," said Oyler.
Perez is slated to available for the Tribe Friday against the Twins, but the team has made no official decision.
