CLEVELAND -- Bernie Kosar's wife filed for divorce last month, claiming the former Browns quarterback suffers from several addictions and also bizarre behavior. Kosar responded for the first time Tuesday. He said he doesn't want a divorce from his wife Babette, and wishes his children didn't have to hear the accusations his wife made. "I'm different, I'll admit that. It doesn't mean I'm drunk or on drugs. I passed those (tests). I don't know," Kosar said. He said he's been drug tested several times and the results were always negative. Kosar also said it's more than just a coincidence the divorce papers were filed only after he sold his company for $60 million. He said lawyers timed it perfectly. "They hit the goose that laid the golden egg with her," Kosar said. Even with the rumors, Kosar said after all of these years he has no regrets. "I'm proud of the way I've handled myself and what I've accomplished in 42 years. I'm not really ashamed of what I've done in life," he said. During his interview, Kosar said he hopes he can work with the Browns during the upcoming season, but only if his family situation allows it. Kosar played for the Browns for nine seasons.
