Blue Jackets' Zherdev Out With Sprained Knee

(Sports Network) - Columbus Blue Jackets forward Nikolai Zherdev will be sidelined indefinitely with a sprained knee, the team announced on Monday.

The 21-year-old suffered the injury in Columbus' 5-2 win over Chicago on Saturday.

Zherdev leads Columbus with 27 goals this season in 73 games. He also has 27 assists on the campaign giving him 54 points.

For his career, the former fourth overall selection in 2003 NHL Entry Draft has compiled 40 goals and 48 assists in 130 games.

The Blue Jackets also called up forward Dan Fritsche from Syracuse of the American Hockey League. Fritsche has played in 51 games with Columbus this season, tallying four goals and five assists.
