Winslow Sr. Asks Media To Be Fair When Covering Son

Winslow Says He Has Deep-Seated Resentment Toward Media

Kellen Winslow Sr. said the media is taking his son's injury to a level that is destructive, adding he isn't sure if the media is trying to destroy his son, NewsChannel5 reported.

Winslow made it clear that he was sick of all the negativity surrounding his son last week.

Winslow Jr. was involved in a motorcycle accident in which he damaged his right anterior cruciate ligament and his kneecap. He also torn his ACL. He will miss all of next season.

Two days after a huge blow up with the media, Kellen Winslow Sr. talked exclusively to NewsChannel5 about his feelings.

Winslow Sr. said that he feels the situation with his son has been overplayed.

He added that he has a deep-rooted resentment for the media, and it could stem from his own days as a football player and his son's days as a college player at Miami. He said the family has been abused by reporters during interviews.

He said he wishes the media would have more respect for the players and the sport itself.

"All I ask is that you be fair. And not bring that lack of respect you might have for those individuals, who are competing into your writing," he said. "Be a reporter. I don't want to hear your opinion."

WEWS reported Winslow Sr. would not talk about the actual accident or provide an official report on his son's injuries. Instead, he said they have talked about the accident as a mistake.

Winslow Sr. said he didn't know about the motorcycle until the after the accident and he said he wishes he would have known.

WEWS said Winslow Sr. will not talk to the media about the extent of his son's injury. Instead, he said the focus will be on getting better.

Winslow Sr. said his son will be the player that many saw at Miami, so just be patient.
