WESTLAKE, Ohio -- Westlake police could file charges of reckless operation of a motor vehicle against Browns tight end Kellen Winslow as early as today.
Winslow crashed his motorcycle Sunday night in the parking lot of Cuyahoga Community College in Westlake. He hit a curb traveling at 35 mph.Investigators returned to the scene of the accident Wednesday, looking for any clues that could lead to more details about the crash.Officials have not interviewed Winslow about the accident.
Winslow remains in stable condition at the Cleveland Clinic and is improving.His right shoulder and knee are injured.Winslow has already had two surgeries on his right leg from when he broke it last September.A local emergency room doctors said Winslow's doctors may be concerned more about the internal injuries. "It's part of the normal business to be having high speed collisions with other athletes even with protective gear, the can still get injured. You really have to be a lot more careful about letting them go back and participate," said Dr. Craig Bates of MetroHealth Medical Center.Several Internet reports said Winslow's injuries are bad enough to sideline him for the season. Sports director Chris Miller found out Winslow's contract specifically prohibits him from taking part in any type of extreme activities, including riding motorcycles.
