Kellen Winslow Out For Up To 8 Weeks

Tight End Injures Fibula In 4th Quarter

UPDATED: 12:33 pm EDT September 20, 2004

It's confirmed. Rookie Kellen Winslow broke his right fibula during Sunday's game against the Cowboys and will be out for six to eight weeks.

The Browns camp has scheduled a 1 p.m. press conference to discuss the team's injuries.

Winslow's injury reportedly happened during a play in the fourth quarter in which Browns players fell on the rookie's leg. Winslow was injured on an onside kick in the waning seconds of the contest.

As Winslow tried to recover Phil Dawson's drop-kick, he was sandwiched by two other Browns.

The Browns No. 1 pick was helped off the field after that play. X-rays were reportedly taken.

The Browns lost 19-12 to the Dallas Cowboys.

In addition to Winslow, 2000 first-round pick Courtney Brown and 2001 first-round pick Gerard Warren were injured. Ryan Tucker, the only player to start all 16 games on the offensive line, has an undisclosed injury.

NewsChannel5 and NewsNet5 will have the latest on the team's injuries. Be sure to check back often for updates.
