LeBron James Suspended From Olympics TeamCoach Forgives 3 PlayersUPDATED: 2:40 pm EDT August 2,
2004 COLOGNE, Germany -- U.S. Olympic basketball coach Larry Brown says the suspension of LeBron James, Allen Iverson and Amare Stoudemire is forgotten. Brown refused to let the three play in an exhibition game Saturday against Puerto Rico because they showed up late for a team meeting, NewsChannel5 reported. Despite having the NBA rookie of the year on the bench, Team USA won, 96 to 71. Brown said he would rather focus on a tough road trip against some of Europe's top teams leading up the Athens Olympics. The U.S. squad arrived in Germany on Sunday, shook off the jet lag and held its first practice. Brown is drilling the youngest U.S. Olympic team, with an average age of 23.6 years, since NBA players were first allowed into the 1992 Games. Carmelo Anthony has already boldly predicted a gold medal, while James said he isn't concerned about upholding the American's 24-0 mark. Copyright 2004 by NewsNet5.
