Former Browns Back Charged With Running Gambling HouseCorey Fuller Says It's Not TruePOSTED: 2:40 pm EDT April 21,
2004 CLEVELAND -- Former Browns defensive back Corey Fuller is in trouble with the law.
Police raided Fuller's Florida home Tuesday, busting up a poker game.
Fuller, 32, is accused of running a high-stakes card game. He was arrested and charged with operating a gambling house, NewsChannel5 reported.
Fuller says it's not true.
"What they're trying to make it out to be, they say it's high-stakes poker. If I show you the affidavit and the things that they confiscated off people, it doesn't say if a man has $6 in has pocket, one man has $41, one man has $14. They didn't get no money off me, my money was in
my safe," Fuller said.
The investigation began in February, and an undercover agent
with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement attended some games.
A sheriff's spokeswoman said some of the pots were worth thousands of dollars and games were held several times a week.
Fuller, who now plays for Baltimore, faces fines and a five-year prison sentence if found guilty.
He was released on $5,000 bail Tuesday night.
