UPDATED: 8:46 am EDT April 4, 2008

A Cleveland Browns player was arrested on Thursday in Texas on three misdemeanor charges, NewsChannel5 reported.

Veteran defensive back Kenny Wright will face a judge on Friday. Pearland, Texas investigators said they responded to a disturbance in their police parking lot when one of the people allegedly involved took off.

The man turned out to be the 31-year-old Browns player, police said.

Police in the Houston suburb said Wright led officers on a short chase before officers caught him.

He is charged with unlawful restraint, evading arrest and possession of marijuana. All three are misdemeanors but he could spend up to a year in jail if convicted.

Wright spent the last nine seasons on various NFL teams. The Browns signed him to a three-year contract last season. He played in seven games last season.
