On Tuesday, Cleveland Indians ace C.C. Sabathia was named the recipient of this year's American League Cy Young Award.

The left-hander was listed first on 19 of 28 ballots and second on eight ballots cast by the Baseball Writers' Association of America, to total 119 points.

The 27-year-old Sabathia had a 19-7 record with a 3.21 ERA during the regular season.

Boston's Josh Beckett, with a 20-7 record, came in second with 86 points. The Indians' Fausto Carmona came in at No. 4.

The only other Indians pitcher to win the Cy Young Award was Gaylord Perry in 1972.

The voting took place before the postseason, during which Sabathia helped lead the Tribe past the Yankees in the ALDS but came up short against Beckett and the Red Sox in the American League Championship Series.
