Boobie's Tattoo Has Profound Meaning To His Life

Daniel Gibson's dream of playing in the NBA has come true, and his dad helps him keep the dream alive, reported NewsChannel5's Danita Harris.

"Just seeing him working and knowing the passion he had for basketball when he was playing," Gibson said about his father Byron Gibson. "A lot of times when I'm playing, and I'm tired or something I know that if he was playing he would want me to continue to work and continue to keep trying to get better."

Byron Gibson played basketball at the University of Houston. His mom's name is Cheryl.

Gibson, 21, is a point guard with the Cleveland Cavaliers. His jersey number is No. 1.

Harris reported that Gibson appears to be grounded, with a foundation of faith in God, a principle he learned as a child.

"I was in one of those households where my grandmother and my mother made me go to church five or six days a week," he said. "If it was choir, if it was Bible study, everything. I even went to a private school from kindergarten to about third grade just because it was right next to the church."

Gibson said his faith remains important to him.

"It's the biggest (thing in my life) because I understand without it, I wouldn't be where I am," he said.

His tattoo even reflects his faith.

"I'm not advertising tattoos, but I have a tattoo on my chest and it says, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." And that's the verse I use in any situation. Regardless of what I'm up against. As long as I keep my faith, I mean, nothing can stop me."

Harris reported that Boobie's boyish smile and innocent charm has peaked the curiosity of women young and old alike.

Boobie revealed the qualities that he looks for in a woman.

"She would have to be strong," he said. "She has to be intelligent. I've never really been big on looks. I'm really more into what's in the inside and those things. Just like to have fun and smile like me."
