Woman Says She Hears Animals Talking

Sessions Cost Up To $50

POSTED: 11:41 a.m. EST February 24, 2003

There's nothing odd about walking a horse or talking to a horse, but what if you were told the horse is also talking.

NewsChannel5's Adam Shapiro reported there is a woman who claims to understand every word.

"He's been fighting with my horse, Justin," said Doris Straka, an animal communicator. "You got to quit that. Justin is bigger than you." Justin is a dog.

Straka said she's been given a gift -- a telepathic ability to communicate with animals.

"(It) allows me to hear and understand other species on the planet and to help them with their humans," she said.

Just like in the movie, "Dr. Dolittle" Straka talks to animals, and she's a legend.

"Sherman and I are having a wonderful conversation about how much better Sherman is feeling," she said. Sherman is a dog.

Shapiro reported that people take their pets to Straka from all over the country to find out if their animals are happy.

Each session costs up to $50. Straka said she does about 3,000 sessions a year.

"Every being, every species on the plant has an opinion of something it transmits into thought and since what I do is telepathic ... I pick it up," she said.

Farm manager Nancy Monzula called Straka when one of her horses was misbehaving.

"He says he can do more than she is asking him to do," Straka said of the horse. "It isn't that he dislikes her. It's just a little boring."

"And once we saw Doris and the way she did connect with the animals I totally believe in her just a wonderful experience having her met the animals. I want her to meet all the animals," Monzula said.

Straka said animals do not have souls but they have plenty of spirit.

She added she understands the skeptics, but insists she hears all animal voices.

"How many times do we stand around and look at an animal and go, 'If they could only talk?' And they do, I think the biggest question is, 'If we could only all hear,' " she said.

You can reach Straka at (440) 256-3666.
