Web Site Caters To Cheaters

A new Web site caters to those who want to cheat on their spouse and it touts a membership of two million.

Ashleymadison.com helps people hook up behind their spouses' back. The site allows visitors to sign up and simply search for someone to have sex with.

One woman's profile says she's "the reason they made cheat." The site's founder, Darren Morgenstern, isn't hiding. He defends it and has put up billboards in some cities promoting its existence.

"We feel in our hearts , minds, and pocketbooks, that people who are going to stray, they're going to do it anyway no matter what, with or without us," said Morgenstern.

It's not easy to track down hard statistics to show how many Americans have secret affairs, but nationally known marriage counselor Doctor Bob Lanier claims as many as 37 percent of men and 22 percent of women have affairs at some point during the course of their marriage.

Morgenstern claims married couples are "leading lives of quiet misery, quiet desperation and they are looking for something outside the relationship, they want to connect with somebody who is like-minded who is also looking to potentially stray on their spouse."

People have protested the site and its billboard advertisements. Meanwhile, counselors agree sexual flings might feel good in the moment, but they won't solve the problems at home.

"All relationships are hard work. it takes work to make a healthy happy relationship and for somebody to choose to not do that work, and go outside the marriage and have an affair is a real sign there is something wrong," said Greg Medlyn, marriage counselor.
