ATLANTA -- A Georgia lawmaker who says that she can communicate with the dead told her House colleagues that she has seen psychic visions of missing intern Chandra Levy.
Dorothy Pelote, a Democratic state representative from Savannah, made the comments Monday as she delivered the Georgia House's daily devotional message. She told members that she can prophesy and contact the dead.
She declined to name the last person to visit her, saying "I don't know if I need to call her name."
But Pelote confirmed later to The Macon Telegraph that she was referring to the California woman who disappeared April 30.
Pelote told lawmakers that her psychic experiences began in her childhood after a near-death experience. She said that she had a vision of a bright fireball in the sky and later she began having visions of dead people.
Pelote is a former teacher who was elected to the House in 1992.
