Home's Owner Thinks Teenagers May Be Inflating Price

ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. -- The price of Madonna's childhood home, up for sale on the Web site eBay, hit almost $4.5 million by 6 p.m. ET Wednesday.

The house, listed as Item #1629863806 on the online auction site started bids at $324,000.

The auction of the suburban Detroit home began on Aug. 21 and continues through Sept. 20.

The description of the sale item says that Madonna "lived in the house with her father, stepmother and seven siblings from the time she was in sixth grade until she left for the University of Michigan. Bidding for this item begins at the actual value of the property as stated on the appriasal report at the time of its purchase."

The colonial-style house came on the market in July when the Material Girl's father decided to sell the home.

Tom Andres, of Rochester Hills, who bought the 2,639-square-foot home from Madonna's father Silvio "Tony" Ciccone and his wife Joan Ciccone several weeks ago, has some concerns about whether all the 62 bids are legitimate.

He says he's not sure if the bids are for real, or if teen-agers might be driving the price up.

Real estate transactions cannot be completed on eBay.
